  • Log in to Eventbrite and check your current orders.

  • The entry fee paid is non-refundable. We are however happy to defer your registration to 2024 if you contact us with this request by October 12, 2023. Thank you for understanding that almost all of the supplies and services for the event must be purchased well in advance of the actual event date. We have worked hard to ensure there are options available while also being sure we can continue to offer the best quality event year after year.

  • You can still come to packet pickup and get your packet! However, if you cannot make it to packet pick up, there is no way to get your packet after race day.

  • We order these shirts in advance to fit our participants. If we let you exchange your shirt, someone else will not be able to get the size that they ordered. Keep in mind that sizing is gender specific.

  • The course is open for three and a half hours, but there are some runners that need a bit more time. If you finish after three and a half hours you’ll still get a medal, but you may need to move to the sidewalk (the course is controlled by the CHP and police only for the three and a half hours). Runners are welcome to start early but note they will not have an official time.

  • Yes, within the 3.5 hour and 1 hour time limits for respective events!

  • The use of headphones is discouraged. It is a safety hazard since use may compromise a participant’s ability to hear critical safety and/or directional instructions, especially instructions that may arise in an emergency situation.

  • Right here! We’ll get them online as soon as possible.

  • Due to limited Dinosaur Caves Park parking, 5k runners and spectators are encouraged to park at Pismo City Hall - 760 Mattie Road Pismo Beach. SLO Safe Ride buses will run a loop from Pismo City Hall to Dinosaur Caves Park (race start) from 5:30am – 6:45am. The return loop runs from 7:30am – 11:30am.

Half marathon runners are encouraged to park in the public parking garages near the race start - 995 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo. Note, the start line is at the intersection of Higuera and Court Street in downtown San Luis Obispo but the above address will take you right there. Following the race, we will take you back to the race start! SLO Safe Ride buses will run from Dinosaur Caves Park (race finish) to Downtown SLO from 8:00am to 11:30am. You may also arrange for your own private transportation if you prefer.

  • We will transport your drop bag. Just tear the tab located on your race bib and hand to an attendant under the “Drop Bag” flag near the start. Pick it up at the finish under the same flag. Remember, you will need to supply your own bag.

  • Yes we offer elite registration for the half marathon. We will comp your race fee if you meet our elite athlete standard. Standards must have been met within the last 18 months. (Please note – there are a limited number of elite registrations available – if you are interested, please contact us sooner rather than later.)

Help us have a successful race and please follow our Code of Conduct:

Participants should conduct themselves in a courteous manner, respect all fellow participants, volunteers, event staff, spectators, and members of the community.

Proper race etiquette is required at all times, including being aware of your surroundings and of announcements and instructions from event officials.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Runners may not engage in any verbal, physical, or other misconduct that is abusive, harassing, insulting, or offensive. Any participant who conducts themselves in an unsportsmanlike manner, or who exhibits offensive behavior or language to event officials, City to the Sea staff, and/or volunteers may be disqualified or subject to other appropriate penalties in the sole discretion of City to the Sea. Unsportsmanlike conduct includes, without limitation, the provision of false or misleading information on an event application, or any other conduct that in the opinion of City to the Sea is unethical, unfair, abusive, offensive, harassing, disrespectful, harmful, or illegal.

Runners should be respectfully quiet during the pre-race announcements and during the playing of the national anthem.

Start
Please give yourself enough time to pick up your race number and enter your corral. Enter only the corral you are assigned to or a slower one.

No Smoking or Vaping
No smoking, vaping, or use of electronic smoking devices, tobacco products, or marijuana products in the Start Corrals, on the Course, or in the Finish area or within 1,000 feet of the Start Corrals, the Course, or the Finish area.

Headphones and Mobile Phones and Devices
For invited professional athletes, the use of headphones, mobile phones, and other mobile recording devices is prohibited under the rules and regulations of:

  • World Athletics

  • USA Track & Field (“USATF”)

  • World Para Athletics

For all other athletes in the general field, the use of headphones is strongly discouraged. If you choose to wear headphones, please ensure that you can hear all announcements and remain aware of your surroundings, including other participants, and that the volume is low enough so that the sound is not audible to other runners.

The use of mobile phones and other recording devices while participating in the event for anything other than to track your run, or for use after the event, is strongly discouraged.

Running Courtesy

  • Forming: Do not run in groups of three or more abreast; wide groups become barriers to other runners.

  • Passing: Communicate when passing a runner, and allow others to pass. If someone running behind you says, “On your left,” move to your right to let the runner pass. If someone says, “On your right,” move to your left.

  • Stopping: Do not stop abruptly. If you stop to drink at an aid station, take water from the furthest point on the table or line to avoid congestion and continue to walk forward. If you need to tie your shoelaces, move to the side of the course.

  • Spitting: Take care when you spit and blow your nose to avoid hitting other participants.

  • Noise: Portable speakers are banned at our events. Do not run with a speaker during a race as the amplified noise may diminish the race experience for other runners.

  • Helping: If you encounter a runner in distress, offer assistance and/or report the situation to the nearest aid station, event official, or the event medical emergency line 866-705-6626.

Portable Toilets
Please be considerate in portable toilet lines. Do not cut in line or into another line. Respect that others will use the toilet after you.

Race Attire
We strongly discourage male participants from racing without shirts, and/or from removing their shirts during the race.

Trash
Please deposit all trash in the provided receptacles, including at aid stations. When discarding cups at aid stations, use caution to avoid hitting other participants..

Lost and Found Items
If you find an item during or after the event, please turn it into the City to the Sea staff tent or to any City to the Sea event official. Items will be held for 30 days and discarded if not claimed by their owner.

Bag Check at Races
City to the Sea is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at bag check.

Race runners need to remember the following important tips……

  • Do not run through the finish chute more than once. This causes inaccurate times and delays results.

  • Pin your bib number on the FRONT of your shirt so we can see it and tie the computer chip on your shoe.

  • Do NOT go back and run in with a friend if you’ve already gone through the chute. This causes inaccurate times and delays results.

  • After finishing, head to the awards area, get your breakfast and relax with your family and friends!
